Thanks for coming to my campaign webpage!
Hi, my name is Eric Lundstrom, and I am seeking your support to be the Simi Valley City Council representative for District Four. Let me give you a little background on who I am.
I was born in California and grew up in North Dakota, Ohio and Kansas. My grandfather and father were both retired officers in the U.S.A.F., so this kept us moving around the country during my childhood. After my father retired from the Air Force, my family moved back to California and we settled down in Agoura Hills, CA. I graduated from Agoura High School (1987) and then graduated from Cal Lutheran University with a B.S. in Accounting. I work full time as a Financial Cost Analyst for an aerospace company in Chatsworth, CA.
I grew up playing sports like soccer, football, baseball, basketball, snow skiing, water skiing and bowling. It was bowling where I found my passion and become quite good at this sport, having won a few local tournaments and even finishing in 3rd place in the team event at the National Bowling Tournament in Reno, NV. I still love to challenge myself, as well as others, on the lanes. But ultimately, it’s all about having a good time while competing.
I have been involved in other activities such as coaching soccer in the local AYSO leagues while my kids were growing up. I have been a parent volunteer in the Boy Scouts Troop 622 and Cub Scout Pack 3698. While in college at Cal Poly SLO, I become a Founding Father of the fraternity chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon (Cal Tau).
During my college years, I met and dated the woman of my dreams. We got married after graduating college and later started a family. I am the proud father of two children, a son who is a senior studying Political Science at Northern Arizona University and a daughter who is a freshman studying English at San Diego State University. My wife is currently the Principal at Katharine Elementary having worked as a teacher for SVUSD for 15 years. She graduated from Simi Valley High School and is a product of Simi schools.
As I come from a family with a long line of service to our Country, my interest in being on the Simi Valley City Council is to continue to serve my community which began in 1999 (soon after we bought a house and settled down). I moved around so much as a kid that I wanted to find a home and never have to move again. Simi Valley is my HOME!
I was elected twice to the Simi Valley Unified School District Board of Education (2006-2010, 2016-2017) having had the opportunity to serve as its Board President for a year during my first term. I currently serve on the Simi Valley Education Foundation as the Treasurer. I have also served on the Simi Valley Neighborhood Council, Ventura County Citizen’s Transportation Advisory Committee and Simi Valley Mobile Home Rent Mediation Board.
As a leader in Simi Valley, I have earned and very much appreciate the endorsements from other elected officials like Scott Blough, Dan White, Dawn Smollen and Kareem Jubran.
When I am elected to the Simi Valley City Council, I hope to bring the board closer together and function as a TEAM! I will help maintain tight control of the City’s financial budget and increase its level of operational effectiveness.
Thank you for your time and consideration and I would appreciate your vote on Tuesday, November 8th!
